The Insular Peninsula

From the deep North comes the tawdrier cousin of the East's Overprivileged* spawn... We give you the brats of the Insular Peninsula, where line photos and human equestrian poses rule supreme...
There are two things going on here and I find both to be rather distressing.  I was - unfortunately - doing my grocery shopping at Warringah Mall the other week, as usual there was something which vexed me. A mother and her late tween, circa 13 year old, daughter  were shopping. The mother was loudly advising her daughter that, now she was no longer a ‘child’, she must start looking sexy. The child was promptly bought a pair of faux litas. There’s nothing QUITE like priming your own child for objectification is there? It was all just a little too toddlers and tiaras for me, next thing you know she’ll be booked into junior cheerleader training for the manly sea eagles. Anyhoo, it’s all here in this picture. A 12 year old in heels, Vladimir Nabokov would be proud.Very quickly, the photo also demonstrates another NB travesty: the boy girl outfit disparity. Girls - always dressed to the nines, guys - owning the same hooded jumper (for all occasions!) from the age of 12 through to 32.
